This tsunami hazard dataset contains three groups of information:

(1) Tsunami Evacuation--This group of data contains site locations and point based information pertinent to the maps produced for tsunami evacuation. This includes the locations of assembly areas, shelters, AHAB sirens, and critical facilities. It also includes lines for evacuation routes. These evacuation routes were developed in coordination with local emergency managers to assist coastal residents and visitors in finding safer locations in case of an earthquake and tsunami and were utilized in the creation of evacuation map products to help facilitate the communication of tsunami hazard and evacuation information in an online map portal. The published pedestrian evacuation walk maps, or evacuation brochures included as polygons indicate direction of travel in select locations. It is also useful for representing where gaps in evacuation products exist.

(2) Hazard Areas-- The mapped hazard areas are a compilation of the modeled tsunami inundation (flooding), gathered from multiple tsunami hazard publications and represents multiple earthquake scenarios. Depending on location, this may be either an offshore earthquake from the Cascadia subduction zone or a local crustal fault within Puget Sound. To see the specific modeled effects from a single earthquake scenario, use the Tsunami Scenario Catalog. It also contains polygons for areas that have published tsunami inundation maps and original model data, where available provided through hyperlinks.

Areas Not Modeled for Tsunami Hazard - No tsunami modeling has been done for these areas, but a tsunami hazard may still exist along all Washington State shorelines, and even within inland bodies of water.

(3) Tsunami Scenarios Catalog--This catalog contains areas of inundation determined by tsunami inundation models from several deterministic earthquake scenarios. The location and magnitude of the source earthquake determines the extent and size of the modeled tsunami. The tsunami scenario models are generated from several different scenario earthquakes along the Cascadia subduction zone and other local crustal faults.

|
